Italian-Brazilian conductor Alex Innecco is the artistic director of the Columbia Chorale
and of the 9th Street Philharmonic Orchestra, also in Columbia, Missouri. He has led
these groups in works including Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Brahms’ Requiem.

He is music director at Missouri United Methodist Church. Alex has a master’s degree
in choral conducting from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s in voice from
Indiana University. His experiences include running an art school in Brazil (Estudio
Amplo
) and working with community groups in Brazil, the USA and Europe.

Over the last two seasons, he has conducted works including Verdi’s La Traviata,
Puccini’s La Bohème, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah,
Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and Rutter’s Gloria and Requiem. As a singer/actor he has
appeared in works such as Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Mozart’s Magic Flute, Moliere’s
Les Precieuses Ridicules
, and his own productions, A Tenor in the Cabaret and
Who's afraid of Classical Music
. His conducting engagements for 2007-2008 include
Bizet's Carmen, in Seattle, and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in Columbia.
